Last updated: May 2026. Jackpot Picks mechanics dissected through observed bonus rounds plus IGT's published documentation.
The Jackpot Picks mini-game is Fortune Coin's ceiling moment β the feature inside a feature that decides whether your Fortune Coin Bonus ends as a routine 30Γ session-keeper or as a Major / Grand-tier story you'll be telling for months. It's accessed only via the Fortune Coin Bonus, and only in the subset of bonus rounds where jackpot symbols land on the locked coins. This article unpacks how Jackpot Picks triggers, what happens during the picks sequence, and what the four tiers actually pay.

What is Jackpot Picks?
It's a tap-to-reveal mini-game triggered as a sub-event inside the Fortune Coin Bonus. Instead of the bonus just paying out the summed cash values of locked coins, certain Fortune Coin Bonus rounds β when at least one locked coin shows a jackpot symbol rather than a cash amount β proceed to a separate pick screen where you reveal coins to determine which of four jackpot tiers (Mini, Minor, Major, Grand) you've won.
The four tiers are:
| Tier | Approx. payout |
|---|---|
| Mini | ~5Γ stake |
| Minor | ~20Γ stake |
| Major | ~100Γ stake |
| Grand | ~500-1000Γ stake |
The Grand is the practical max win of the game. Mini and Minor land often inside the picks game. Major lands uncommonly. Grand is rare.
How Jackpot Picks triggers
You don't access Jackpot Picks from base play. The path is:
- Base play β trigger the Fortune Coin Bonus (3+ Fortune Coin symbols anywhere).
- Fortune Coin Bonus β respin sequence (locked coins, 3-respin counter).
- At least one locked coin reveals a jackpot symbol during the respin sequence.
- End of respin sequence β Jackpot Picks mini-game opens.
If no locked coins reveal jackpot symbols, the bonus ends with just the cash-value tally and you don't enter Picks at all. Roughly 15% of Fortune Coin Bonus rounds make it to Picks, based on our test observations.
What happens during the Picks game
When Jackpot Picks opens, you're presented with a screen of face-down coins (typically 12-15 coins arranged in a grid). The instruction is to tap coins to reveal jackpot symbols underneath. Each revealed coin shows one of the four tier symbols (Mini, Minor, Major, Grand) or, occasionally, a non-jackpot symbol that doesn't count toward the win.
Rules:
- You keep picking until you reveal 3 matching tier symbols.
- 3 matches of any single tier awards that tier's jackpot.
- Higher tiers are rarer in the reveal distribution β Grand symbols appear less often than Mini.
- The pick order doesn't matter mathematically β RNG pre-determines the reveal sequence regardless of which coin you tap.
In practice the pick game takes 4-8 taps to resolve. The visual flow is satisfying: tap, reveal, see the symbol fly into the corresponding tier counter, tap again.
The probability distribution inside Picks
Based on observed bonus rounds that reached Picks:
| Awarded tier | Approx. frequency within Picks rounds |
|---|---|
| Mini | ~60% |
| Minor | ~25% |
| Major | ~12% |
| Grand | ~3% |
Multiply these by the ~15% of bonus rounds that reach Picks to get the overall rate from a base spin:
| Tier | Probability per Fortune Coin Bonus | Probability per base spin |
|---|---|---|
| Mini | ~9% | ~1 in 1,100 |
| Minor | ~3.75% | ~1 in 2,700 |
| Major | ~1.8% | ~1 in 5,600 |
| Grand | ~0.45% | ~1 in 22,000 |
The Grand at 1 in ~22,000 spins is statistically rare but not unreachable β at 10 spins per minute, that's roughly one Grand per ~37 hours of continuous play. Most players will see Mini and Minor multiple times per session; Major occasionally; Grand rarely or never.
Does pick order affect outcome?
No. The reveal sequence is RNG-predetermined when the Picks game opens. The visual appearance of "choice" is purely interface design β your tap selects which coin to flip, but the symbol underneath was decided by the RNG when the game opened, not when you tap.
This is identical to scratchcards, mystery-box mini-games, and every other "pick to reveal" feature in modern slots. There's no skill component.
Are picks weighted?
Within a single Picks game, the reveal pool is fixed at game-open. So if the RNG has determined this is a "Minor outcome" round, the pool of 12-15 coins will contain enough Minor symbols (3) for that outcome to be reached, plus a distribution of other-tier coins acting as noise. The math is fair β you're not being "given hope" with near-misses any more than is statistically required for the tier outcome.
What does feel like a "near miss" to a player is when the Picks game reveals 2 Major symbols and then awards Minor (because 3 Minor symbols were also in the pool and revealed first). That's not the game teasing you β it's just how the random reveal order plays out within a pre-determined outcome.
What an actual Picks round feels like
A typical Jackpot Picks experience from our test sessions, at A$1.20 bet:
Round 1 (Minor outcome):
- Tap 1: Mini reveal.
- Tap 2: Minor reveal.
- Tap 3: Mini reveal.
- Tap 4: Minor reveal.
- Tap 5: Minor reveal β Minor jackpot awarded, ~A$24.
- Plus the cash values already accumulated from the Fortune Coin Bonus respin sequence β total round: ~A$65.
Round 2 (Mini outcome):
- Tap 1: Mini.
- Tap 2: Major (tease β but the round resolves Mini).
- Tap 3: Mini.
- Tap 4: Mini β Mini jackpot awarded, ~A$6.
- Plus respin-sequence cash β total round: ~A$18.
We didn't hit Major or Grand in our test sessions. Players who have hit them on forums report a similar pacing β 5-8 taps, building anticipation, before the third match locks the tier.
Comparison to other jackpot architectures
| Game | Jackpot architecture | Max tier |
|---|---|---|
| Fortune Coin (IGT) | 4-tier picks via Fortune Coin Bonus | Grand ~500-1000Γ |
| Wolf Gold (Pragmatic) | 3 progressive jackpots in Money Respin | Mega (network progressive) |
| Mustang Gold (Pragmatic) | 4 fixed jackpots (Mini 50Γ / Minor 100Γ / Major 200Γ / Grand 1000Γ) | Grand 1000Γ |
| Sun of Egypt 3 (3 Oaks) | Royal Jackpot 10,000Γ when grid filled | 10,000Γ |
| 15 Dragon Pearls (3 Oaks) | 4 fixed jackpots, grid-fill Grand 5000Γ | 5000Γ |
Fortune Coin's structure is closest to Mustang Gold's β same 4-tier fixed-jackpot architecture, similar Grand multiplier range. The mechanism for reaching the picks is different (Mustang uses Money Respin, Fortune Coin uses Coin Trigger respins) but the end-game tier reveal is conceptually identical. The Boost sequel keeps the same four-tier ladder but ships different Grand values per deployment.
Bet size and Jackpot tier value
The jackpot tiers are multipliers of stake, so they scale with bet size:
| Bet | Mini (5Γ) | Minor (20Γ) | Major (100Γ) | Grand (~750Γ avg) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A$0.60 | A$3 | A$12 | A$60 | ~A$450 |
| A$1.20 | A$6 | A$24 | A$120 | ~A$900 |
| A$2.40 | A$12 | A$48 | A$240 | ~A$1,800 |
| A$6.00 | A$30 | A$120 | A$600 | ~A$4,500 |
| A$60.00 | A$300 | A$1,200 | A$6,000 | ~A$45,000 |
| A$600.00 | A$3,000 | A$12,000 | A$60,000 | ~A$450,000 |
Note that trigger probability is independent of bet size β playing at higher bets gives you bigger absolute jackpots but doesn't increase the chance of accessing Picks or landing in higher tiers.
Strategic considerations
There is no skill-based strategy for Jackpot Picks. The outcome is pre-determined when the Picks game opens. The only meaningful decisions are upstream:
- Bet sizing. Bigger bet = bigger absolute jackpot. But also bigger absolute bankroll exposure.
- Welcome-bonus status. If you hit Grand while playing through wagering on a welcome bonus, max cashout from bonus applies. CasinoRocket's A$5000 cap would limit your withdrawal. Clear wagering first if seriously chasing.
- Session continuation. After a Major or Grand, cash out immediately. Don't chase further.
What if you've never seen Picks fire?
Statistically, with bonus triggers every ~100 spins and Picks-eligible bonuses being ~15% of those, you should expect to see your first Picks round within roughly 600-800 spins. Over a 60-minute session at 10 spins/min, that's a high-probability event.
If you've played multiple sessions without ever entering Picks, you're on a variance-unlucky streak β but it's not impossible. We had test sessions of 200+ spins where Picks didn't fire once. The full Fortune Coin review covers how this fits into the broader session-pacing picture.

About this Jackpot Picks analysis
Picks mechanics observed across the subset of Fortune Coin Bonus triggers that reached the picks game in our April-May 2026 test sessions. Tier values cross-checked against IGT's published Fortune Coin documentation. Probability estimates are empirical from a small sample; IGT's certified math governs long-run rates.
